If you did not get a copy of the Sunday Seattle Times (or major market newspaper in your area), it may not be too late. Inside, there were three doubler coupons for Albertsons and $2.50 off Electrosol. For us in the Seattle area, the Seattle Times is the paper to get on the weekends, as the Smartsource insert includes pages of bonus coupons (as in the case this last weekend), of General Mills coupons and others.

Target Shoppers? One of these days, I'll make it up to our local Target. Many women I know list Target among their favorite places to get a great deal on groceries, etc. Target offers their own printable coupons, which you can combine with manuf or internet printed coupons. Sharing Our Good Deals: The Help House is in need of donations, as this is their "Christmas In July" event. When you see a great deal, perhaps you can give the items, if you cannot/will not use them yourself. Also, we're working to support another small ministry, "Helping Hands" which distributes toiletries and non-food items to those in need. Often Walgreens and other stores give us great opportunities to get basic necessities cheap or free. Hand these items to those who help our neighbors. For more information on either helping organization, please email hannolds@comcast.net

Amy's Day Out....Country n Savin' Money

Today started with a solo drive to Burlington, to be in line for KMPS music stop.
Snagged a free, pre-release copy of Brad Paisley's new CD (Yea!). That was a $15.0o savings!

Next door to the stop, was Avenue. It rang a sound of familiarity, so I quick-checked my Entertainment book and came up with a 40% off one item. They were in the midst of a super sale already, so I shopped spectacularly and saved a lot. Here's what I got:
One stylish large black beach bag
One Stylish straw hat (wide enough brim to keep the sun off)
One Very cute and Functional wallet-case-thing (slim, rectangular wallet)
Four assorted nice necklaces (these are gifts for b-day and christmas)
One bronze-colored bracelet-style watch (I've been looking for one!)
One necklace in green colors (for all my new "green wear")
One set of three shorter necklaces (these were only .96 for the three) for Gracie and friends

I paid $32.xx, Full price was near $75

I paid a visit to Office Max. I found a two sticker sheets (conversation hearts and st. patricks day). These rang up at .01 each. Also bought .90 3-subject notebook and a "SLOW Children at Play" sign for our driveway.

When I returned home to Oak Harbor, we made a trip to Safeway. I had the most delicious roast beef half-sandwich and cup of soup. I splurged on this $5.xx dinner after bagging these savings:

Trip one:
Four boxes of Pop Secret (sale .99 each, had two .75/2 coupons)
One bottle of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce (sale .99, had $1/1 coupon)
Two pks Trident Gum (clearance for .99, had two .75/1 coupons):
Paid: $3.37, Saved $15.10 (that's 82% by their math)

Trip Two:
Two pks Trident Gum (clearance .99 each, used .75/1 coupon)
Four pks Extra Polar Ice Gum (sale bogo $1.34 each, had two BOGO coupons)
Paid: $1.23, Saved: $9.09 (Savings of 88%)

Not bad for a frugal gal's day out!

Albertsons Savings, Once Again! 6/28

Who Wants to Meal Plan With Me?

I've heard it discussed in several circles lately. Add to that, my goal this month is to eat entirely out of my pantry and freezer, with the exception of produce, milk and a few meat/seafood purchases. Yesterday, while cooking a roast, I found that several of the cans I took from the pantry were dated for this year -- so, it signaled to me time to clean out.

Here's my favorite place to start - it's Menus4Moms.com. Its's free -- and you can either follow their planned menus, or they will give you the free forms to print and create for yourself. Sign up and they will send you a weekly meal, plus more tips and ideas for everyday life. There are also lots of other home organizing forms there (put them in the SavingCentsEveryday.com's suggested "Home Organizer Notebook" for improved family efficiency).

Here's the website:

http://www.menus4moms.com/homeorganization/planner.php

If you want to join me on this challenge, post here or send me a note!

Good luck, and many good, meals to you!

I Saved $100-plus, here's how!

We ventured to Safeway yesterday, in time to take advantage of their weekend specials. A friend of mine presented me with at $10/50 coupon, but that was just the beginning.

It took very little time, perhaps 20 minutes, to match what they had on sale with the coupons I had. Most of the coupons I used were from Safeway.com -- and other IP (Internet Printable) coupons.

Here's what we scored at Safeway:
one California Kitchen Pizza
2 Digorno Flatbreads (there were coupons on the freezer case for $1/1)
six peaches
one pound container strawberries (Free with coupon from Safeway.com)
six corn on the cob
One honeydew melon
Enough Top Round Steaks for 8 servings
Two pounds Safeway packaged ham lunchmeat
Two oscar meyer pkgs hot dogs
Three Del Monte Cups Grapefruit
Three Kraft Mac n Cheese Cups
Three Cans Cream Mushroom Soup
Four pounds frozen chicken breasts
Two pounds cooked, frozen shrimp
One bottle chilled wine (it was warm yesterday!)
Two bags of Dorittos
One Sweet Spice BBQ Sauce
Two cans baby corn cobs
Two pounds stem on tomatoes
Final Paid Price was $61.58
Saved $100.86

Today, I went to Albertsons:
One pair reading glasses (for husband- on clearance - were originally $14.99)
One nice pair sunglasses (for me-on clearance, were originally $14.99)
Three Betty Crocker Frostings
Four Suddenly Salad Mixes
Two Dri Idea Deodorants (on clearance, were originally $4.xx, had $2/1 IP Coupons)
Ten Propel Waters
Two Warm Delights mini packs
Six Sara Lee Bagels
Two pkgs Temptations Cat Snacks (had BOGO cpn, on sale-for son's food drive)
Final Price Paid: $21.14
Saved $66.51

Again, it was a process of matching sales/promotions with coupons -- and a few lucky clearance items.

Workin' on Joining the 21st Century, Blogger Style

So, I was so excited to get an email from "SavingCentsEveryday" today... It was the latest blog post I completed last night -- how cool! Now, I'm not sure how I did that, or how you can join in the daily list of good ideas and great-deal alerts -- but try! I'll make it worth your while. (and, I won't feel as though I'm doing a whole lot of talking to myself!)

Getting back to work after a week long travel with the family(s), and all of that laundry and catch-up that comes with it has left me a little tired today... So, we'll be short on lists and long on re-cap....

Shopping today, I saved 43% at Safeway. We got Corned Beef, carrots, lettuce, one Kiwi (Ben noticed it came from Italy, and I felt as though at .99 EACH - I was helping to pay for it's plane fare!), a carton of OJ (definitely a treat - only .99!), a box of granola bars, PB, a ton of green grapes, two cartons of ice cream... and a few other things...

Tomorrow, being Tuesday, I plan on making a trip to Albertsons. There, I'll take full use of the $10 off $25 of Kraft/Orowheat Items -- and matching that with coupons, plus the three doublers, hope to buy a combination of all those above (10 items in all) for less than $8 (for all of them). Their acceptance of Competitors coupons is coming to an end. (Yes, I complained already -- and I got the same auto "sorry" response that everyone else on RefundCents.com received).

They too, have grapes on sale -- and hopefully the cheapest price for cabbage.....

Here are a few quick GDA's:
Start your kids on a habit and desire to save money. Better yet, anyone can contribute to their savings. Go to smartypig.com and check it out. If you want to make your own little pink piggy bank, parentsmag.com has a craft for you. Termed, "Upcycle Piggy Bank", it's a cool and easy craft that will also encourage your kids into a lifetime of saving money.

I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel (Nightline is over and I have yet to change it to something more intelligent)... but I'm enjoying listening to Don Rickles... I saw him in Vegas (or was it Reno) a few lifetimes ago.... classic, real humor -- he is as good now as he was then. Sure, it's not all clean, but most of the time, you just have to agree... A deadpan, dry, impromptu sense of humor -- love it!

On a Safety note, if you've ever wanted to see a demonstration of proper car seat use and installation, you can find instructional videos at chop.edu/carseat If you prefer an in-person demonstration and safety check, go to seatcheck.org or call Dept of Transp 888-327-4236

My Inspiration Today (for Tuesday): Self Magazine's "SELF Challenge 2009". I'm ready to head back to the gym. SELF has it all laid out, in simple snipets -- how I can get in shape. Diet, excercise, toning, -- best of all there are pictures of the workouts (and online videos if you hear & see better than you read). If you want to join my Self Challenge Team, let me know - let's go for health in 2009! Find it all at Self.com

Finally, though I'm thrilled to get an email feed from SavingCentsEveryday.Blogspot.com myself, I would be more thrilled to know that I'm reaching someone out there - that I've got all the right boxes in "set-up" checked and you're benefiting from my daily dose of frugal inspiration -- so, after you've signed up, let me know.... And, add your own 2-cents (or more!) -- it'll only get more interesting then.... Ithink it's so cool now that instead of emailing all of you (whenever I get around to it), I can now send you one daily email that has all the links and GDA's (as they are available).... Hang on, we'll be saving Time and Money Now!

Thanks for reading -
